Registered Nurse (RN) Lead/Liaison - Referral Management Job Overview:
Civilian and military healthcare providers work together to provide a full range of services to the military community.
The Referral Management Center (RMC) serves as the primary point of contact for patients' referrals.
RN Lead of IRMAC Medical Section of RN's and LPN's, and Liaison between MTF Clinics and IRMAC.
Ensures transition of referrals and communication between MTF Clinics and IRMAC.
Supports timely scheduling of specialty care referrals, identifies referrals to be deferred to network, ensures processing IAW DHA requirements, and tracking network referral statuses.
Provides oversight of the RMC contract processes as directed by the Referral Processing Protocols.
Appraises subordinate workers' performance, identifies employee development needs and provides or arranges for training to maintain and improve job performance.
Approves master leave schedule.
Develops and gathers patient data, analyzes medical referrals coupled with clinical procedures and military regulations by overseeing specialty care referrals for proper authorization over authorized surgery/medical procedures, laboratory, radiology, and pharmacy.
Conducts first level reviews for all referrals to specialty care, acts as referral approval authority for designated referrals, and provides feedback regarding utilization review issues.
Provides patient education regarding specialty care referral, procedures, labs, etc to prepare the patient for their specialty care appointment/procedure.
Facilitates professional and patient care activities.
Acts as facilitator of professional and patient care activities and interfaces with the MCSC and MTF multidisciplinary personnel
Conducts first level reviews for all referrals to specialty care.
Provides managerial oversight of RMC activities and contract personnel.
Registered Nurse (RN) Lead/Liaison - Referral Management Job Qualifications:
Full-time employment in nursing for the last 12 months
MHS Genesis training and/or experience within the last 12 months
5 years of broad based clinical nursing experience - highly preferred
Experience with Tricare and Military Treatment Facilities preferred
Knowledge and skills to interpret and apply medical care criteria, such as InterQual or Milliman Ambulatory Care Guidelines.
Working knowledge of APGs, DRGs, ICD-9, and CPT-4 coding
Quality Control and Risk Management experience
Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills
Working knowledge of computers (Internet, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Access, Microsoft Excel, and Windows)
HIPAA knowledge
Graduate from an ACNE or CCNE accredited program
RN License: any U.S. state honored. active, unrestricted.
