Summary This position is a Health Informatics Specialist, Division of Management Information Systems, employing office located at the Bemidji Area Office, Bemidji, MN. Responsibilities Health IT Management- lead clinical decision support coordination, configuration, implementation, change management, and support adherence to all applicable policies, procedures and standards. Facilitate and support the evaluation of Health Information Systems (HIS) and associated data to identify and assess the clinical quality improvement processes. Deliver and oversee technical support to customers, providers, community organizations and other stakeholders. Informatics Leadership & Program Management- ensure HIS support the information needs of the agency, area, and health programs for policy development, practice, data governance, and evaluation. Collaborate with vendors, IT professionals, and area programs to plan, develop, and maintain HIS's and develop system requirements. Participate and provide informatics subject matter expertise in quality assurance and improvement programs. Modernization and Innovation- Coordinate the adoption of health data standards that facilitate interoperability between IHS, Tribal, and Urban facilities and other private entities. Lead, facilitate, or participate in agency wide implementation of interoperable health information systems and clinical workflows. BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): Education Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree: major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. AND GS-13: One year of specialized experience at GS-12 or equivalent; Specialized Experience Defined: Advanced experience in troubleshooting, evaluating, configuring, utilizing and training with health information systems/technologies and associated clinical software; advanced technical ability in performing data input, retrieval, and analysis; extensive leadership (e.g., team lead, project lead, management) experience in informatics responsible for improving the quality, efficiency and effectiveness of health care by integrating clinical and information processes in a health care environment. Specialized experience: Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.
