Job Description
The Certified Coder shall work under the direction of the Coding Supervisor, and the Director of Health Information Management. The candidate shall work with Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) and International Classification of Diseases-Current Version (ICD-10). Other duties include processing outpatient hospital accounts as well as Rural Health Clinic accounts; reviewing medical records to determine accurate assignment of codes, including (but not limited to) missing/incorrect procedure codes, missing/incorrect diagnosis codes and code sequencing. Additionally, the candidate shall provide outstanding customer service to internal departments; respond timely to coding review requests/inquiries, as well as complete other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
1) Minimum 2 years of experience as an outpatient hospital coder
2) AHIMA (CCA, CCS or CCS-P) or AAPC (COC, CPC or CPC-H) certified
3) Working understanding of hospital Revenue Cycle processes including HIM, CDM maintenance, & billing/claims generation
4) Proficient auditing and problem solving skills
5) Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
6) Excellent written and verbal communication skills
7) Exceptional organizational and work flow management skills
8) Ability to multitask and work independently with minimal supervision
9) Working knowledge of Managed Care and Government payer environment a plus as well as experience in Rural Health Clinic guidelines

Salary is commensurate with up to 10 years of experience.
