ABOUT THE ROLE: Under the direction of the Director of Community Programs and in accordance with stated agency policies and procedures, the Art Coordinator plays a multifaceted role that requires a blend of creative, organizational, and interpersonal skills with the ability to inspire and empower clients to explore their creativity and reach their full potential. This role will involve coordinating art projects and exhibitions while also teaching art classes to clients of all abilities and skill levels.

A TYPICAL DAY FOR YOU AT HH:
  • Coordinate the logistics of art projects, including scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation. This involves liaising with various stakeholders such as clients, vendors, and internal team members.
  • Collaborate with key team members and Director to develop concepts, themes, and visual styles for projects and events. Provide guidance to clients and team members, and ongoing feedback to the Director to ensure the artistic vision aligns with project objectives.
  • Source materials, equipment, and supplies necessary for art projects; manage relationships or ordering with suppliers to ensure timely delivery and cost-effectiveness.
  • Oversee and maintain high standards of quality of artwork produced, ensuring it meets project requirements and maintains artistic integrity.
  • Manage the production process from concept to final execution. Coordinate with Director and key team members to ensure artwork is completed on time and within budget for HH events and community engagement opportunities.
  • Research, implement and support clients through events, exhibitions or online sales to showcase artwork.
  • Create and maintain documentation as assigned accurately and timely, including curriculum preparation, lesson plans, data tracking, monthly, quarterly or yearly reports, and budgets.
  • Provide individual and group instruction, adapt the curriculum to clients with varying artistic abilities, implement activities and recreation per programming schedule, accommodate various instructional activities and train and coach DSPs on implementing and presenting lesson plans.
  • Stay updated on current trends, techniques, technologies and best practices in the art and design industry. Continuously seek inspiration and opportunities for innovation to enhance skills, knowledge, and capabilities.
  • Adapt to changing project requirements, client feedback, and industry trends while maintaining flexibility and creativity in finding solutions and adjusting as needed.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines while maintaining attention to detail and quality standards.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with clients by understanding their needs, addressing concerns promptly, and delivering exceptional service and results that exceed expectations.
  • Communicate client needs including schedules, medical, behavioral, and family needs to the Director quickly and effectively.
  • Participate as a member of the individual's interdisciplinary team and attend team meetings as required.
  • Assist with ADL's, feeding and toileting as per individualized need.
  • Assist with monitoring and transitioning of new clients into the program.
  • Ensure that the rights of individuals are protected and that services are provided to the highest level of quality.
  • Meet quality, compliance and training requirements as set forth by Helping Hand, CARF, DHS and other pertinent regulations.
  • Flexibility while supporting community events that may occur outside of regular work hours and utilization of the Community Space.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

LAND THIS OPPORTUNITY BY HAVING:
  • Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts, Art Education, or related field (an equivalent combination of education and experience considered).
  • At least 2-3 years work experience in visual arts including painting, drawing, ceramics, photography, sewing, etc.
  • Proven experience in art coordination, project management, or previous teaching experience in formal or informal educational settings.
  • Strong artistic skills and proficiency in various art mediums and techniques (ability to utilize the pottery wheel, glazing, and firing of ceramics preferred).
  • Ability to fulfill all necessary training requirements of the agency, including but not limited to crisis management (including de-escalation strategies and physical management techniques) and DSP training within 90 days of hire if applicable.
  • Proficient and comfortable with technology such as Microsoft Office, Teams, Zoom, etc.
  • Experience working with people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (preferred)
  • Ability to inspire and motivate clients to achieve their artistic goals.
  • Abilityt o maintain client confidentiality.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and time management skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to multitask and prioritize multiple urgencies as required.
  • Exceptional interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record and ongoing motor vehicle insurance

SCHEDULE AND COMPENSATION:
  • On-site position, Monday-Friday with some flexibility while supporting community events that may occur outside of regular work hours and utilization of the Community Space.
  • $50,000-$53,000/year. Full-time/Salary/Exempt position. Salary based on skills and experience
