Position Overview:
The Community Advocate will work alongside the Executive Director and Program Directors to directly engage the broader communities served by Community Partnership of Southeast Missouri. The primary goal is to identify poverty-related community education needs and opportunities, develop internal and external partnerships for community outreach, and coordinate community events to raise awareness. This role requires thorough attention to detail, excellent written and verbal communication skills, management and organizational skills, and the ability to understand the big-picture needs of the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Research and Analysis:
- Create processes for ongoing collaboration and communication between community partners, including using Coalition Manager and Mailjet.
- Attend local community resource meetings to develop relationships.
- Conduct outreach in the community or among potential participants to increase awareness of programming.
- Develop or identify appropriate systems for tracking information related to community partnership.
- Collect input from the community on program activities and results.
Strategy Development:
- Create plans or materials for outreach for new or expanded programming.
- Develop and nurture partnerships in the community to deliver services.
- Plan and execute community engagement activities in collaboration with the Event Coordinator and Program Coordinators.
- Through relationship-building, creatively engage neighborhood businesses, faith communities, schools, community organizations, and healthcare facilities within the target area in the work and mission of the Community Partnership of Southeast Missouri.
Implementation:
- Represent Community Partnership of Southeast Missouri at community meetings, including neighborhood association meetings and community events, to better understand the needs of the community and ways the organization can support those needs.
- Construct communication networks among all stakeholders, including participants, partners, beneficiaries, and other agencies in the community.
- Convene meetings of partners and potential partners to discuss possible collaborative activities.
- Report significant program outcomes to partners.
- Help develop memorandums of understanding with partners.
- Organize and reinforce partnership networks and structures.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong attention to detail and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Effective management and organizational abilities.
- Ability to understand and address the big-picture needs of the organization.
- Experience in community outreach or a related field is a plus.
- Proficiency in using communication and outreach software.
